Built in China, paid for by China, built by Chinese, operated and maintained by Chinese — news media reports often describe the newly refurbished, high-speed Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway as a project in which China is fully vested. But China didn’t finance the entire railway by a long shot. Ethiopia and Djibouti financed about 45 percent of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway.

For the year which ended March 2014, South Africa Airways (SAA) has revealed operation losses of $3.7 million, CCTV Africa reported. Within the African continent, the airline experienced a 17 percent revenue increase. However with international flights, SAA experienced a $160 million loss. This spring the airline will cut some international routes to combat the revenue slip, CCTV Africa noted.
