The Nigeria national team captain is yet to play for Chelsea this season under new manager Antonio Conte, as he was away on national duty with the Nigerian Olympic team in Rio last month, forcing him to miss the London club’s pre-season preparations.

Portland Timbers’ Nigerian striker Fanendo Adi is expecting Nigeria national team coach Sunday Oliseh to call him up for future games, based on a conversation the 25-year-old had with the Super Eagles tactician. Adi’s Major League Soccer club won the MLS Cup 2015 title over the last weekend, and he has been one of the outstanding performers for the Timbers this year.
