    Norwegian Internet browser Opera Software has announced plans to invest $100 million in Africa’s digital economy over the next two years, as the company aims to consolidate its most robust market. The investment will be used to develop artificial intelligence that delivers Africans customized and localized content, while continued efforts will be made to reduce data costs by around 90 percent. The goal is also to grow African businesses in partnership with African tech companies. It is envisaged that Opera will bundle in third-party services that provide mobile payment and improved data features through the web browser.

    It is estimated that Africa’s aviation industry will earn $100,000,000 dollars in revenue this year, a CNBCAfrica video report said. Spikes in tourism and infrastructure development within Africa’s main airport hubs will contribute to the industry boost. “Actually wherever you look in Africa the opportunities are there, because the markets are underserved,” International Air Travel Association VP Raphaael Kuuchi told CNBCAfrica. “Typically now we’re seeing a lot of investment in airports, so modern airports are coming up.”

  • Algeria Sends $100 Million to Tunisia’s Foreign Reserves

    Tunisia’s central bank said a deposit of $100 million by neighbouring Algeria would bring foreign reserves back to the level its board considers adequate to cover import requirements. Tunisian state television reported on Sunday that Algeria’s government had made a $100 million deposit to the bank’s foreign reserves, and given a separate loan of $100 million and a donation of $50 million.

  • India to Cover $100 Million in Buyer’s Credit For Namibia’s Infrastructure

    India has offered to provide buyer’s credit of USD 100 million to Namibia for taking up infrastructure projects. This will be in addition to the USD 100 million Lines of Credit which India had offered during the State visit of the President of Namibia to India in 2009.
