Ghanaian star Andre Ayew seems to be set to join a top English Premier League side at the end of this season, when his time at French club Marseille comes to an end.

The Stade Veledrome will not be Ayew’s home next season, as he has refused to sign an extension to his contract with the Ligue 1 club, and the potential suitors have been lining up to make an offer for the Black Stars midfielder.

The son of Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele has been at the centre of an ongoing transfer saga which seems set to continue until the market opens at the end of the season.

His performances for his French club, and the Ghana national team at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the Black Stars ended the tournament as runners up to eventual winners Cote D’Ivoire, have caught the eye of more than one side in the various European leagues, with interest reported in England, Italy and Germany.

English clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Tottenham, Swansea City, Everton and Liverpool have been linked to Ayew, while German sides Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg are all rumoured to be keen on his services.

Reports in Italy have revealed strong interest from Inter Milan, AC Milan, Napoli and Roma, where recently it seemed as though the Giallorossi were pushing hard for his signature.

Marseille club president Vincent Labrune has been vocal about the fact that the Ghanaian talent seems likely to join a team in the English top flight.

“We can’t keep Ayew,” he said, according to DailyStar. “He is a very important player for OM but we can’t offer him the kind of money that English clubs can offer.”

Labrune added, “The French financial system is complicated and we can’t offering him an equivalent salary to what he can earn in England. And equally, we can’t ask Ayew, who we love and is an icon for our team, to accept a lower salary.”

“That makes no sense so unfortunately he is going to quit the club and we hope he has a great career that he deserves in England or somewhere else,” he concluded.

It would seem that Ayew will be considering offers from Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool in an effort to secure a transfer to one of the top sides in the EPL.
