With some of the most expensive hotel rates in the world it is no surprise that oil-rich Angola expects to get 25 new hotels by the end of this year.

According to a Macauhub report, the country’s hospitality minister,  Paulino Baptista, said he expected an additional 25 hotels with nearly 2,000 rooms  to be added before the nation celebrates its 40th national independence anniversary.

This “will change the history of hotels in Angola forever,” Baptista said.

Angola, a country that came out of a two decade long civil war at the dawn of the century, has been growing at one of the highest rate in the world mainly on the back of oils and gas export.

The country’s tourism sector has also benefitted from all the expats and business persons flying to sign deals with the government. Offices and accommodation are in short supply and the expats demand for quality service has led to a property boom.

Among hotels brands building new hotels in Angola include the InterContinental Hotel, with 390 rooms, in Luanda, Hotel Palanca, with 146 rooms, in Malanje, as well as more than 20 units of the “AAA” company in five provinces of the country.

According to Baptista, the country has a network of 185 hotels, with 10,238 rooms and 13,743 beds, 14 apartment hotels with 725 rooms and 1,068 beds, 88 holiday villages, with 284 rooms and 310 beds and six inns, with 113 rooms and 117 beds.
