Striker Moussa Maazou has decided to retire from the Niger national team, despite being only 26 years old, due to constant problems that he has experienced in the side.

The talented attacking player, who represents Chinese side Changchun Yatai at club level, has come to the decision to hang up his boots due to a lack of proper organisation from the local football association.

The former CSKA Moscow player mentioned that he previously spoke to the authorities in Niger about his pending decision to leave the Mena, but with no change to the way things were being done since his discussion, he has announced his retirement.

“I have spoken to the chairman several months ago, to tell him that I wanted to quit. He asked me to stay, but now I prefer to say stop,” Maazou said, according to StarAfrica.

“There have been no improvements as regards the organisation. Logistics are non-existent. Each player is out on his own. Problems are piling up,” he added.

Maazou began his journey with the Niger national team in 2008, and in 33 matches he has scored 7 goals, contributing a great deal to the growth of the side in Africa, and helping them to qualify for their first Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2012.
