Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has revealed that the English Premier League club is interested in converting the loan deal for Nigerian Victor Moses into a permanent move in the upcoming transfer window at the end of the season.

Nigeria national team winger Moses is currently on loan at Stoke City from Chelsea, following another loan last season from the London club, which saw him representing Liverpool in the English top flight.

The Anfield side did not extend his loan or try to capture him on a permanent deal, and Liverpool’s loss has been Stoke’s gain, with the talented 24-year-old gaining confidence at the Potters, helping them to reach 10th spot in the league thanks to three goals and three assists.

Coates has now revealed the club’s plans in terms of keeping the Super Eagles player at the the Britannia Stadium.

He told SkySports News, “There are some obvious things we want to do. Victor Moses is an interesting situation for us and we would like to see how the land lies with that one. If we can, we would like to do a deal.”

The Nigerian has done well this season despite a few injuries marring his progress, including a thigh problem that has kept him out recently, but a week ago he revealed on his official Twitter account that he has returned to training at Stoke, saying: “Back in training today after a small injury and looking forward to getting back to 100% for the rest of the season.”

Moses is unlikely to be recalled to Chelsea at the end of the season, as coach Jose Mourinho brought in Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina in January to solidify the midfield and give him further central options. So if the Nigerian does not secure a deal at Stoke, it is likely that Chelsea will send him on a third loan deal in three years.
