Congo Brazzaville Government Reopens Largest Trader Market

Congo Brazzaville Government Reopens Largest Trader Market

Planning minister, Jean-Jacques Buoya, recently announced the reopening of Congo Brazzaville’s largest market, CCTV Africa reported. Four years and $12 million dollars later, the now new and improved market provides a space with better security and sanitation across its 4,5000 meters of square feet.

One trader, named Josephine, said that the upgraded market is nice however, space for individual traders may not be enough:

“I am happy and proud of the work that was achieved here. But I think we are too many in a small market — the market is not going to be enough for all of us,” she said. “We were each assigned a meter of space, and I think some will not find space.”

Over the next three years the government will be rolling out additional upgrades with an expansion.
