A host of organizations including the United Nations and the World Wide Fund For Nature gathered at a conference to highlight the need for more green energy and climate change support. Some larger countries including Japan, for contributing to “dirty energy,” and Australia — for not contributing to green energy funds at all — have been called out by fundraiser organizers, CCTV Africa reported.

“The pledging conference for the green climate fund has really brought a whole new set of resources to the table through what’s going to be the central institution for climate finance,” David Waskow of the World Resources Institute told CCTV Africa. “That 10 billion dollars is really a key threshold to have met.”
