Ethiopia Opens Door To More Investment At Power Conference

According to CCTV Africa, through the combination of various energy sources, Ethiopia has the capacity to generate upwards of 1 million Megawatts of power. East Africa Power Pool secretary general, Lebbi Changullah, said in the report that Ethiopia hosts huge hydro-power capabilities — which the country plans to make the backbone of regional exports. A recent power conference was held to pull in more investors and to kick start more projects.

“There is no limit in generation capacity to be engaged in,” Azeb Asnake, Ethiopian Electric Power CEO told CCTV Africa. “It starts from any megawatt up to any megawatt. There is no limit, so they can invest in any range of generation capacity…There are no taxes exempted from investment on this sector.”
