Vodafone and telecommunications provider for Sub-Saharan Africa Afrimax have announced a strategic partnership for the exploration of potential partner markets across the region, as well as the signing of a partner market agreement in Uganda.

The companies said the non-equity framework agreement will see them explore the potential partner market opportunities across Sub-Saharan Africa; with Vodafone hoping to add to its partner markets network currently operating in over 50 territories worldwide, while Afrimax furthers its plans to become the largest broadband internet provider in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Meanwhile the deal concluded regarding Uganda sees the companies together offer voice and data products and services to the market, leveraging the “Vodafone Uganda” brand.
“Uganda is an attractive market and we are delighted to welcome Afrimax to our successful Partner Markets community,” said Stefano Gastaut, chief executive for Vodafone’s partner markets.

“We look forward to exploring the potential for further Partner Market agreements in Sub-Saharan Africa with Afrimax, under our framework cooperation agreement.”

Vodafone said it’s multinational corporate clients will in particular benefit from its managed services network expanding to include Uganda; while Vodafone customers across its markets will also benefit from preferential roaming rates in Uganda.
