Football, swimming, rugby, running or boxing — the following are some of the sexiest sportsmen and male athletes in Africa. They’ve made careers out of their honed, worked-out bodies. Emmanuel Adebayor, Togo

Togolese footballer Emmanuel Adebayor plays for the Tottenham Hotspur, as well as the Togo national team, and was voted African Footballer of the Year in 2008. After the Togo team bus came under gunfire en route to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Angola, Adebayor briefly retired from the national team, but rejoined it for the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa, where which Togo made it to the quarterfinals. He is the country’s all-time top goalscorer, making 27 goals in 57 appearances.

John Obi Mikel, Nigeria

Nigerian soccer sensation John Obi Mikel plays midfielder for Chelsea in the English Premier League, but is known in Nigeria for his immense contributions to the national team, the Super Eagles. He made his World Cup debut in Brazil in 2014, helping Nigeria advance to the knockout stage for the first time since 1988, and earning the Man of the Match Award in the opening group-stage match against Iran.

Chad Le Clos, South Africa

Chad Le Clos, the South African swimmer voted Sexiest Athlete Alive by Trans World Sport in 2013, shot to fame when he beat Olympic swimming legend Michael Phelps in the 200-meter butterfly in the 2012 Olympics. More recently he racked up seven medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He has twice won the Overall Swimming World Cup, in 2011 and 2013.

Christian Eyenga, Democratic Republic of Congo

Christian Eyenga is one of the few Africans to play (albeit briefly) in the National Basketball Association, but the shooting guard has had an impressive career, including his time spent in Europe. Eyenga plays for Turów Zgorzelec of the Polish Basketball League. The DRC native got his start playing for the Congolese team Onatra Kinshasa, and is known for his impressive size and agility on the floor.

Kevin-Prince Boateng, Ghana

Kevin-Prince Boateng most recently made headlines when he was sent home early from the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after clashing with Ghana’s team managers, but the star footballer has been well known in Ghana for years. Voted by TV network DSTV as one of Africa’s top five sexiest sportsmen, the midfielder currently plays for Schalke 04. He will no longer lend his talents to Ghana’s Black Stars, as he has been suspended indefinitely following the incident in Brazil.

Adam Larsen Kwarasey, Ghana

A Ghanaian footballer, Adam Kwarasey plays goalkeeper for the Norwegian club Strømsgodset, and though he was born and raised in Norway, he has represented his father’s country of Ghana at the international level since 2011. Kwarasey was awarded the Kniksen Award for best goalkeeper for the 2013 season, but has since been dropped from the Ghanaian national team roster as of August 2014, in favor of fellow goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.

Didier Drogba, Côte d’Ivoire

Ivorian football superstar Didier Drogba is known internationally for his football success, having amassed fans across Europe and Africa during his time with Chelsea in the Premier League. Though he currently plays for the Turkish club Galatasaray, Drogba continues to represent Côte d’Ivoire on the international stage, and was included on the team’s roster for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He is considered one of the greatest (and sexiest) Ivorian football stars of all time.

Eben Etzebeth, South Africa

Eben Etzebeth, a rugby lock in the Western Province for the Super Rugby team, the Stormers, is widely considered one of the sexiest rugby players in the world. The Springboks star was nominated for the International Rugby Board (IRB) Player of the Year in 2013, and was called up to the national squad for the first time in June 2012. Since then, he has made 25 appearances for the South African Springboks, playing a crucial role in the team’s victories over the past two years.

David Rudisha, Kenya

Kenyan long-distance runner David Rudisha is the current Olympic and world record holder in the 800-meter event, and was the first person ever to run under 1:41:00. He has won the Track and Field Athlete of the Year award a record three times in a row, and was also named World Athlete of the Year in 2010 by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Heavyweight boxer Ngoli Okafor is a two-time Golden Gloves champion, but has also worked as a male model and actor throughout his life. It wasn’t until the age of 31 that he decided to take up boxing, but has since managed to rack up an impressive number of successes despite his late start. Some studies have shown Okafor to be the most downloaded black male model and actor on the Internet, and he has been linked to a variety of international supermodels, including Gisele Bündchen.
