African-American Farmers Seek To Aid Gambia’s Agric Sector

American farmers are looking to do business in Gambia. And recently, a delegation of American farmers traveled to Banjul to facilitate the process of investing in the country’s agricultural sector, reports Star Africa.

According to Gabriel Christian, head of delegation which consist of members from a consortium of the 10 largest African-American farms in America, said they are in the country to help the Gambia government develop the sector.

“The idea is to position Gambia’s agricultural sector for takeoff, encourage foreign direct investment and build good relations between local agric businesses and those in the US,” he said.

Most of the farmers involved are fromAlabama.

“We want to bring the best practices in Gambia in farming, farming technology, to advance food security and make the country an advance farming nation that can export its produce to the sub-region,” he added.
