Africa’s Aviation Industry Expected to Earn $100 Million in 2014

It is estimated that Africa’s aviation industry will earn $100 million dollars in revenue this year, a CNBCAfrica video report said. Spikes in tourism and infrastructure development within Africa’s main airport hubs will contribute to the industry boost.

“Actually wherever you look in Africa the opportunities are there, because the markets are underserved,” International Air Travel Association VP Raphaael Kuuchi told CNBCAfrica. “Typically now we’re seeing a lot of investment in airports, so modern airports are coming up.”

Because of this investment, Africa’s airlines will be able to better operate and “support the growth of the industry,” Kuuchi noted. Though regardless of growth, high government taxes on airline ticket purchases, security and safety are issues that will require more work, the report said.
