Mali Traders Protest Against Business Going To Foreigners

Workers and traders in MaliĀ  are unhappy about opportunities given to foreign traders instead of them. And a group recently held a peaceful protest.

“The protest brought together a huge number of workers and traders in the town before ending at the regional governor’s office,”reports the Global Times.

“We have been there for two years without anything to do. We suffered due to occupation. Now that the occupiers have gone, the authorities are giving all tenders to foreigners at the expense of us, the natives, who remained here during the violence. We have not benefited with anything,” a spokesman of protesters told the media.

“Shops did not open and offices were equally closed. Today Timbuktu is a ghost town,” he added.
