Dortmund Coach Thomas Tuchel Desperate To Keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel does not want to lose star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and has pleaded with the club to do what it needs to do to stop a transfer for the player affectionately known as ‘Auba’.

The African Player of the Year is a transfer target for a number of high profile clubs across Europe, with Real Madrid indicating their interest in the prolific striker.

The 27-year-old is the Bundesliga top scorer with 15 goals in 12 appearances thus far this season, and he scored for his team in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night away to Real Madrid.

The striker scored one and assisted Marco Reus for the other to earn a 2-2 draw that saw Dortmund top Group F.

The Gabon starlet has admitted to being happy in Germany, though he has always been clear that one team have the power to sway him from Dortmund.

Aubameyang has revealed in past interviews that it was his Spanish grandfather’s dying wish for him to one day play for the Galacticos, and he has made it clear that he hopes to fulfil that ambition in future.

There is a transfer ban imposed on Real Madrid at the moment that prohibits them from registering any new players until the beginning of 2018.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of their drawn Champions League encounter with Madrid, Tuchel said that he was desperate to keep Aubameyang in the squad, but admitted that he understood his motives for considering a future at the Spanish club.

“It’s normal that he wants to play at Real Madrid one day, any player with his talent would like to play at one of the best teams in the world,” Tuchel said to the assembled media, according to AS.

“But my opinion is clear. We cannot achieve our objectives without him. He’s an extraordinary player, he makes everyone better,” the coach added.
