AFKINSIDER: Are there plans to expand Konga.com to other African markets?

SHOLA ADEKOYA: We’re undertaking many leading initiatives that are redefining the online shopping experience in the country and we are also focusing on deepening the ecosystem in Nigeria before exporting the same to other African countries.

AFKINSIDER: How has the e-commerce space changed in Nigeria since Konga was launched?

This is a great question…in 2012, Konga.com was launched with a dream to become the engine of commerce and trade in Africa and it is fantastic that this dream is becoming more of a reality every day. The company is now quite proudly one of the biggest e-commerce companies in Nigeria which as we know is Africa’s biggest economic market.

We have essentially revolutionized the contemporary shopping experience in Nigeria. Like consumers in developed markets, Nigerians can now shop seamless online. Until 2012, this was unheard of on the continent due to the infrastructural, social and cultural challenges in local and regional African markets. Through innovation and customization of global e-commerce best practices, Konga has enabled Nigerian consumers to stop traveling, in some cases sometimes hundreds of miles, to obtain daily household items/groceries, fashion accessories or gadgets.

AFKINSIDER: Is competition in the Nigeria getting too stiff? And how has Konga managed to stay at the top of the game?

SHOLA ADEKOYA: We are focused and driven by the vision to become the preferred engine of e-commerce and trade in Africa, Nigeria’s largest online mall and we will not relent on our commitment to delivering the best quality service, smarter shopping innovations and faster nationwide service delivery to our esteemed customers.

AFKINSIDER: What other products and plans does Konga have for the Africa’s fast growing e-commerce space?

SHOLA ADEKOYA: The success of the past is hinged on the responses of our customers, merchants, partners and investors. We work to continue to deliver quality products and services at unbeatable prices, prompt delivery, smart and secured solutions as well as an excellent customer service.
