Sadio Mane Shines With Southampton Hat-Trick

Senegal striker Sadio Mane made his mark on the English Premier League once again on Sunday with a hat-trick that contributed to his club’s 4-2 victory against Manchester City at the St Mary’s Stadium.

Shane Long opened the scoring for the Saints on 25 minutes, before Mane added his name to the scorers list with a fine finish three minutes later.

Not to be outdone, Nigerian 19-year- old starlet Kelechi Iheanacho scored before half time to give Man City hope, but second half goals in the 57th and 68th minutes earned Mane his hat-trick.

Mane was in the right place at the right time for his second of the game, after an excellent Joe Hart save sent the ball to the striker for a tap-in.

His sublime finishing allowed him to convert the third after an excellent pass from midfielder Dusan Tadic. Iheanacho’s second strike 12 minutes from time would be nothing more than a consolation goal for the Citizens.

This was Mane’s second Premier League trio of goals after writing his name in the record books with the fastest ever EPL hat-trick in Southampton’s 6-1 win over Aston Villa in May 2015. Three goals in two minutes and 54 seconds earned him that impressive record.

The Senegal international striker has been representing his country since 2012, playing in over 30 matches, scoring nine goals thus far.
