Drogba Keen For A Return To Train With Chelsea

Ivorian striker Didier Drogba’s love affair with English Premier League club Chelsea may be set to continue, with the former Cote D’Ivoire captain interested in the idea of training with his former club in the Major League Soccer (MLS) off season.

Drogba is currently contracted to MLS club Montreal Impact, having joined the side following his second stint at the London outfit.

Montreal Impact’s MLS season is now over, having lost to the Columbus Crew in the semi-finals of the play-offs. Drogba was a crucial element of that successful run, contributing 12 goals in 14 appearances.

According to the a recent interview, the Ivorian would not be against the idea of a return to the Blues, at least in order to train and prepare for action with his Canadian club.

“To train? Why not? But it’s something I would need to discuss with [Montreal], because I belong to them,” he said to French news agency AFP.

He went on to explain that he would not expect to take part in matches for Chelsea, but rather look to use the club’s facilities to prepare for the new MLS season due to the contract that he currently has with the Canadians.

“I signed a one-and-a-half year contract, I always like to respect what I have signed. Playing? I’m not too hot on that idea. I need to rest and make sure that I’m ready for the new season.”
