Didier Drogba Scores Hat-Trick For Montreal Impact Against Chicago Fire

In the former Cote D’Ivoire international’s first start for the club, striker Didier Drogba showed his class by delivering three goals to contribute to Montreal Impacts’s 4-3 victory over the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer (MLS) action.

The Ivorian joined the Canadian club following the end of his contract with current English Premier League champions Chelsea at the end of last season, looking for a new adventure as the 37-year-old looks to close his stellar career in North America.

The attacker left the Blues in July, ending his second stint at the London club with total figures of 164 goals in 381 appearances. He also represented Galatasaray of Turkey, but the Blues have been his major employers in Europe over the last decade.

On Saturday the veteran striker opened up his account at the MLS outfit with an impressive hat-trick. Drogba scored his opening goal in the first half, before contributing his second to equalise at 3-3 on 60 minutes.

The Ivorian then headed the winning goal a few minutes later, ensuring that his new adventure is off to a phenomenal start.

Drogba became the first player to score a hat-trick within his opening two MLS matches thanks to his exploits over the weekend.

The striker is Cote D’Ivoire’s all-time leading scorer due to his 65 goals in 105 appearances, but he was not part of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winning squad, as he had retired from the national team the year before.
