Aston Villa Complete Jordan Ayew Signing

Ghanaian midfielder Jordan Ayew has been signed by English Premier League team Aston Villa on a long-term deal from French Ligue 1 side Lorient.

The 23-year-old Ghana international completed his move to the English club this week, signing a five-year deal that will keep him at Villa Park until 2020.

Les Merlus benefited from the player’s 12 goals and seven assists during the recent French campaign, allowing the team to avoid relegation and building his profile as a player of quality.

Interest for Ayew has emerged from a number of clubs, including Everton and Crystal Palace in England, Borussia Dortmund in Germany and Lille in France, but Aston Villa convinced the player to make his way to Villa Park.

Aston Villa coach Tim Sherwood commented on the acquisition, telling the team’s official website: “I am really pleased to bring Jordan to the football club. He is a fantastic young player who is perfectly suited to the Premier League.”

Jordan Ayew’s brother Andre recently left French club Marseille to join Swansea City in the Premier League. The son of Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele refused to sign an extension to his contract with the Ligue 1 club, and he joined Swansea on a free transfer, signing a four-year deal.

With Jordan Ayew’s deal now complete, the two brothers have reunited in the same league, but will be rivals for the Premier League title.
