Nigeria national team coach Gernot Rohr has publicly stated that a return to the Super Eagles is a possibility for internationally retired goalkeeper and former captain, Vincent Enyeama. The German coach opened the door to his return, making it clear that he is welcome to reignite his national team career if he is willing to work hard and be humble. The Nigerian shot-stopper decided to retire from the Super Eagles in October 2015 following the revelation that then coach Sunday Oliseh had chosen for Ahmed Musa to captain the side, rather than the veteran keeper.

Nigerian international Victor Moses has withdrawn himself from the Nigeria squad to face two friendly international assignments in the coming days, infuriating coach Gernot Rohr. The Chelsea player injured his calf muscle during the London team’s 1-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, and as a result he will miss two matches for the Super Eagles.

The talented Super Eagles player has been an important part of coach Antonio Conte’s impressive team this season, with the Blues leading the EPL standings at the moment on 63 points, 10 points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in second.

Nigeria face the Chipolopolo of Zambia on Sunday in a Group B World Cup qualifier, as the final 20 African teams with a chance to qualify for Russia 2018 beginning the group stage this weekend.

Former Nigeria national team captain and assistant coach Daniel Amokachi has stated his ambitions to take the Super Eagles to another level if he is entrusted the role of head coach in future. The former player for the national team has worked as an assistant to Super Eagles coaches in recent years, including a successful spell under late Nigerian tactician Stephen Keshi in which the Nigerians won the 2013 AFCON.

Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel has mentioned the American Major League Soccer (MLS) as a possible future destination, once his contract with English Premier League club Chelsea comes to an end. The Nigeria national team captain is yet to play for Chelsea this season under new manager Antonio Conte, as he was away on national duty with the Nigerian Olympic team in Rio last month, forcing him to miss the London club’s pre-season preparations.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been without a permanent coach for most of 2016, but this is set to change as Frenchman Paul Le Guen looks likely to be named the new Nigeria national team coach. The head coach position was vacated by Sunday Oliseh earlier in the year, and has been temporarily filled by Salisu Yusuf in recent times.
