South Africa and Russia have reportedly signed a cybersecurity cooperation agreement that will see the two BRICS nations working closer together in an effort to strengthen their defenses against cyber threats. The deal was officially signed at the BRICS summit in Xiamen, with high level diplomats from both countries, Sergey Lavrov of Russia and Maite Nkoana-Mashsbane of South Africa, putting pen to paper on the agreement.

The Chinese government underwrites much of the Mandarin language education in Africa. Mandarin courses have been introduced this year in more than 40 South African schools with plans to be in 500. The move caused an uproar in South Africa, with parents taking to social media. Proponents say Chinese language skills will help create jobs. South Africa wants to grow tourism between BRICS member countries. Its Department of Tourism has started teaching Mandarin and Russian to tourism frontline staff including tour guides.

The Mozambique government missed a crucial payment on Monday relating to a sovereign guarantee on a $535 million loan taken out by a state-run enterprise, inching the country closer to default. The loan was intended for the construction of shipyards by the state-run Mozambique Asset Management (MAM), but the shipyards are still not yet complete.

Because India’s economy is growing so quickly, knowing Hindi means you have an edge in fields such as commerce, digital media, information sciences, and business.
