Wayde van Niekerk will have an opportunity to attempt a rare World Championship double, after the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) cleared the way for him to run the 200m and 400m events at the IAAF World Championships, to be held in London between 4-13 August 2017. The development follows a special request made by Athletics South Africa (ASA), after Van Niekerk showed interest in attempting the rare double.

According to Reuters, it’s estimated that more than 100 million mobile phones were sold across the African continent in 2013. Twenty percent of them are smartphones, and according to the report, more than 10 million of these smartphones were manufactured by Samsung Electronics.

Amplified capital spending in Tanzania’s cement industry has boosted the East African country’s annual cement production. Cement production in the country may shortly reach six million tonnes, which is double the existing three million tonnes, according to Tanzania’s Daily News.
