It is no secret that countries with the slowest broadband speeds globally have a distinct disadvantage over others with regards to development and business capabilities. New research from British company Cable, looked at over 63 million broadband speed tests across the globe to determine the slowest broadband speeds based on country averages. Yemen is in last place in the ranking at an average speed of only 0.34Mbps, but a number of African nations disappoint with slow speeds.

Google and three strategic partners have committed to investing a combined $100 million in a broadband infrastructure project to benefit African cities, with fast and reliable internet capabilities in the pipeline. The agreement signed between the four investors sees the creation of a new entity known as CSquared, which will operate as an independent company and will be based out of offices in Nairobi, Kenya.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has completed his 10-day visit to Africa, returning to Switzerland after spending time in nine African countries. During the visit Infantino attended the three-day summit in Johannesburg, South Africa where national association delegations from three different confederations were able to interact with the FIFA president and his staff, with specific focus on how the needs of African and other associations could best be addressed.
