Liberia does not conform to the definition of a tax haven and is not considered one by France and the U.S., the Liberian government said in response to a report last week that the West African country is about to be blacklisted on an E.U. tax haven blacklist. While the E.U. collects information on how its member states view other jurisdictions, it has not engaged in any action against tax havens. In response to the Panama Papers data leak, that may change. Three out of four companies doing business with World Bank funds in sub-Sahara used tax havens, according to anti-poverty group Oxfam.

At least seven investors said they’re interested in buying part of Barclays’ stake in Africa. The bank said it expects to maintain single-digit loan growth this year with the rest of its African operations expanding faster than South Africa. Revenue continued to improve and growth in the rest of Africa is well above that of South Africa. What happens to Barclays in the future could depend a lot on what the South African Reserve Bank wants, one investment manager said.

New FIFA president Gianni Infantino has suggested that Africa should receive two more World Cup qualification spots if his plan to expand the flagship competition from 32 to 40 teams is successful. Swiss UEFA Secretary General Gianni Infantino was elected as the new FIFA president at the end of February, and began working for world football’s governing body with immediate effect.

In recent years, African countries have increased spending on their militaries. This is mainly due to the need to fight terrorist organizations and rebel factions that have emerged across most parts of the continent. According to data compiles by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), while African countries don’t spend much on their militaries compared to developed nation, the ratio of annual budget spent on armies on the continent is among some of the highest in the world.

South Africa’s tourism industry has seen its ups and downs, and right now, it’s up, thanks in part to Chinese tourists. Tourist arrivals from China were up 93 percent in January. A fairly horrible year in 2015, SA tourism was hurt by Ebola fears over an outbreak thousands of miles away and changes in the country’s visa regulations. Tourism contributed more than agriculture to SA’s GDP in 2014.

The African national teams are currently involved in Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying with matches to decide the teams that will progress to the next round of the qualification campaign to take part in the Nations Cup in early 2017. There are many fixtures taking place, with some of Africa’s best national teams involved in the campaign in an effort to earn their ticket to Gabon and a chance to be champions of Africa.

Six of Africa’s 10 best airports are in South Africa, two are in North Africa and two are on islands, according to Skytrax World Airport Awards. Cape Town International Airport was ranked as Africa’s best airport Wednesday at the awards ceremony in Germany, with airports in Johannesburg and Durban ranking No. 2 and No. 3 on the continent based on surveys of airport customers. “Cape Town International Airport is consistently ranked as one of the best in the world‚” said Alan Winde‚ provincial minister of economic opportunities.
