    While there is plenty of information available online about Airbnb’s growth in South Africa, not much is available on its progress throughout the rest of the continent. We know that Airbnb has 25,000 listings in South Africa, and more than half are in Cape Town. Marriott, meanwhile, is on track to have 205 hotels and 37,000 rooms in all of Africa after its six new African hotels are built. Three of the six new Marriott properties will be in Cape Town.

The four host cities that will stage matches include Libreville, Franceville, Oyem and Port Gentil, as Gabon hosts the continental showpiece on their own, six years after co-hosting the competition alongside Equatorial Guinea.

    The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have decided to allow a total of 50,000 fans to attend the 2018 World Cup qualifier between the Pharaohs of Egypt and the Black Stars of Ghana at the Borg El Arab Stadium on Sunday November 13. There have been strict restrictions on fans at soccer matches in Egypt since 2012, when 72 Al Ahly fans were killed in violence that broke out at a match in Port Said.

    The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed two shortlists for major awards over the weekend, including a shortlist of 25 players who are nominated for the 2016 African Player of the Year – Based in Africa award. A total of five players have been selected from South African club side Mamelodi Sundowns, meaning that a fifth of the nominees represent the Pretoria-based team.
