Valencia Keen To Sign Bernard Mensah

Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Mensah is on the wishlist of Spanish La Liga club Valencia, and it seems that he could soon leave his Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes to join the side that play home matches at the Mestalla Stadium.

A fee of around $10 million has been reported recently by Super Deporte, who mention that Mensah looks set to make the switch from Portugal to Spain.

Well known agent Jorge Mendes represents the 20-year-old Ghanaian talent, and is interested in finding his client a spot at a top club in one of Europe’s top leagues, with Valencia fitting the bill.

Mensah performed very well during the recently ended season in Portugal, having scored five goals and created five more in 30 top flight appearances, which helped his side to finish in 5th position, securing Europa League football for the next campaign.

The midfielder has been a sought after acquisition in recent months, with a number of clubs courting the Ghanaian player, including the likes of Juventus, Atalanta and Sampdoria in Italy, AS Monaco in France and Portuguese rivals FC Porto.

The midfielder was a favourite for many to be included in the Ghana national team for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), in which the Black Stars lost in the final to Cote D’Ivoire, but Mensah did not make the final cut and was forced to watch the tournament on television.

He has since debuted for the national team, scoring in his first appearance to secure a 1-0 victory for Ghana against Togo in June.
