Khune Returns To Bafana Squad For Gambia AFCON Qualifier

South Africa national team coach Shakes Mashaba has selected his Bafana squad ahead of their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Gambia next weekend.

The tactician named a full strength squad for the Gambia encounter on Saturday June 13 in Durban, before a friendly against Angola a few days later on June 16 in Cape Town.

The side includes a number of European-based players to compliment the strong contingent of Premier Soccer League (PSL) footballers.

Tefu Mashamaite, Itumeleng Khune and Mandla Masango were all released from club side Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday, following their success in the league, and they were all selected for the national team.

Thulani Serero, May Mahlangu, Anele Ngcongca and Ayanda Patosi are amongst the European contingent that have been included in the squad.

Erick Mathoho would probably have made the Bafana team for these two encounters if it were not for his toe injury.
