Harlem Globetrotters In South Africa This July

World famous exhibition basketball team the Harlem Globetrotters will be performing for South African audiences in July this year, showcasing their incredible skills and wowing fans in the country.

The Harlem Globetrotters combine athletics, theatre and comedy in entertaining their audiences, and will be visiting three cities in South Africa to perform their shows.

The Globetrotters are supremely talented and entertaining athletes who can perform incredible basketball skills. The team have a unique showcase of skills that have found their way into the record books and showmanship that the whole family will enjoy.

The Globetrotters perform upside down shots, trick shots and passes plus unbelievable slam dunks and three pointers hurled from the opposite side of the court.

The travelling athletes have visited the country twice previously, in 1996 and 1997. They made history as the first international basketball team to play in a free democratic South Africa when they made the trip in 1996. They then returned the next year for Nelson Mandela’s 79th birthday celebration in Cape Town.

During their visits they reach out to communities, host clinics for children, visit schools, hospitals and the underprivileged, and they have been doing the same this year.

They are currently in South Africa promoting their upcoming tour, speaking to radio stations and appearing on television shows around the country.

The Globetrotters will be in South Africa for the tour between July 1-10, and will perform shows in Cape Town (Grand West Arena)1 and 2 July; Durban (ICC) 3 and 5 July, and Johannesburg (Ticketpro Dome) 9 and 10 July.
