Sadio Mane Scores Fastest Ever Premier League Hat-Trick

Senegal striker Sadio Mane has written his name in the record books after scoring the fastest ever hat-trick in English Premier League history for Southampton in their 6-1 demolition of Aston Villa on the weekend.

The striker put three goals past Villa keeper Shay Given in two minutes and 54 seconds, officially breaking the record previously held by Robbie Fowler.

Mane’s goals showed his class and work-rate, bringing the visiting side to their knees with the first half strikes.

Speaking to the media after the game, where he was told about his record-breaking exploits, Mane responded with humility and shifted the focus back on his team.

“Oh really? I’m happy. But I think the more important thing is the victory, because the last few weeks were not easy for us, but that is football. We just try to keep going and work hard, and finally we have a reward,” he said to a SkySports reporter at the end of a match broadcast.

“I think today everybody played well, and that is important because we try to work hard in training every day,” he added.

The encounter was Southampton’s final home match of the season, and their supporters were incredibly pleased about the excellent performance that Mane and his team-mates had produced.
