Barcelona Through To Champions League Final Despite Loss

Barcelona have progressed to the final of this season’s UEFA Champions League despite losing 3-2 in their second leg semi-final against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.

The Blaugrana were able to book their ticket to the final thanks to a 5-3 aggregate victory over their German hosts because of a comprehensive 3-0 win at the Nou Camp in the first leg.

Bayern Munich started off well when Moroccan defender Medhi Benatia scored a well placed header in the 7th minute, but Neymar soon equalised for the Spanish club, before a brace from the Brazilian striker showed his class and made life more difficult for the club from Munich.

Luis Suarez played his part, setting up both of the first half goals for Neymar. Bayern would come back into the encounter in the second half, with a well-worked move and excellent Robert Lewandowski strike making it 2-2, before German international Thomas Muller excited coach Pep Guardiola with another goal from distance.

But despite the second half fight back, Barca did enough to keep Bayern from scoring three more goals which would have allowed them to progress to the title match.

The result means that Barcelona have guaranteed their spot in the June 6 final in Berlin, and on Wednesday night they will find out about the club that will join them when Juventus and Real Madrid face off in their second leg semi-final, keeping in mind that the Italians have a 2-1 lead from the first leg last week.
