New York Red Bulls Want Boateng And Muntari

The Ghanaian pair of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari are reportedly being considered for an end of season swoop by Major League Soccer (MLS) club, New York Red Bulls.

Reports from respected Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that the two veterans of the European game may set the MLS as their next destination if the Big Apple club get their way.

Sulley Muntari is currently playing his football at Italian side AC Milan, with the club having one of their worst seasons in recent memory and the Ghanaian seemingly kept on the fringes of the struggling club, an exit at the end of the campaign seems likely, and the interest from the US could be just what the former Sunderland and Inter Milan midfielder was looking for.

The 30-year-old has been linked with potential transfers to West Ham, Everton and Hull City of late, and while a Premier League move may be his ideal next step, the Ghanaian is likely to give the Red Bulls interest some serious thought.

Kevin-Prince Boateng, who is a former AC Milan midfielder, has been struggling with injuries this year, and he has not been able to contribute his usual best to German club side Schalke as a result.

The 28-year-old talented midfielder may see a fresh move to the MLS as a good way to shake off the cob webs and reignite his career, but the American club where fellow Ghanaian Lloyd Sam plays will need to do some convincing, as Jerome Boateng’s half brother is being inundated with requests from Italian clubs and a strong push for his services from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

A return to Serie A would seem unlikely for Boateng, but cannot be ruled out entirely, however, the Red Bulls move for both Ghanaians may be an interesting proposition for the German born midfielder. Bild also reports that Boateng has a number of suitors from clubs in China.

The New York Red Bulls recent lost one of their top draw cards when former French star Thierry Henry retired, and they will be keen to bolster the squad with some recognisable names from Europe. This transfer narrative is one worth monitoring over the course of the next few weeks and months.
