Nigerian Moses Simon Being Monitored By Tottenham And Liverpool

KAA Gent’s Nigerian striker Moses Simon is attracting increased interest from a flurry of European clubs following his positive displays for his Belgian Pro League club and a recent debut for the Super Eagles in international football.

The 19-year-old, who is a product of the GBS Academy in Nigeria, has been at the centre of some transfer interest of late, with clubs from England, the Netherlands and Germany sending scouts to monitor the player in Belgium with a view to potentially signing him at the end of the current season.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are the English Premier League clubs that are most interested in the services of the Nigerian  youngster, according to reports, and they are set to face stiff competition for his signature, as German sides Borussia Dortmund, Cologne and Stuttgart have also been considering a move for Simon, while Dutch outfits Ajax and PSV are also keeping a keen eye on the attacker.

His seven goals in 10 appearances for the club in the Belgian top flight since joining in January have showcased his abilities in attack.

Gent are said to be excited at the prospect of a big money sale for Simon, and would be looking to offload the striker if any of the interested bidders offers the desired amount at the end of the season.

Gent sports manager Michel Louwagie recently told Het Nieuwsblad, “Our position is clear, we want Moses Simon to stay with us next season. The transfer record in Belgium (€19 million for Marouane Fellaini) will be beaten for his an eventual departure. We are talking of an amount of €20 million.”

With a set figure in mind, the interested clubs know exactly what they will need to offer in order to open talks with Gent and begin the process of securing his services next season.

The striker is contracted to the Belgians until 2018, and is unlikely to be willing to extend that contract with interest from other European leagues mounting.
