Adebayor Content To Remain At Tottenham

Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that he would be happy to remain at English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur next season, going against recent reports that suggest he may leave the club at the end of the current campaign.

His form at White Hart Lane has not been stellar this season, with a poor goalscoring record of only two goals in 16 games.

Adding to the debate, the incredible form of top goalscorer Harry Kane and usual strike partner Roberto Soldado has meant that the former Arsenal and Real Madrid attacker has not been coach Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice as often as he would like.

This reality, along with the reports that his wages make him difficult to offload to another club, have produced suggestions that the London club may be willing to subsidise part of his wage packet to make it possible for him to move to another team from a financial perspective.

But the player from Togo has moved to squash rumours that he is wanting to leave, with a year to go on his current contract at Spurs, using his official Twitter account to convey his feelings about the club and the potential of him remaining into next season with a view to recapturing his position in the first team.

“Contrary to reports, I am very happy at Tottenham and will do everything to fight for my place. I have a year to go on my contract and love playing in the EPL, best league in the world!” Adebayor posted on Twitter.
