Aubameyang Encourages Borussia Dortmund To Aim For Europa League

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had words of motivation for his fellow players regarding the possibility of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League as one of the German representatives.

The Gabon national team star has been an important cog in the Dortmund machine this season, turning around a season that started dismally and creating the opportunity to reach a spot that would qualify the Bundesliga outfit for European football’s second most prestigious club competition.

With eight games left in the current campaign, Dortmund need to make up around five points on the clubs above them to reach Europa League qualification.

Aubameyang has scored an impressive 18 goals in all competitions during the 2014-15 season for his club, chipping in with two of these valuable strikes this weekend when they defeated Hannover 96. He now has 12 Bundesliga goals in the current season, after 25 games.

Speaking to the official Bundesliga website, the former AC Milan player suggested that the Europa League is within reach and needs to be his side’s target for the final matches of the season.

“There are only a few points now between us and sixth place and qualifying for the Europa League. We have to keep looking up the table and remain positive. Now, it’s about taking as many points as possible,” Aubameyang told bundesliga.com

The striker’s excellent form will be important if Dortmund are able to pursue the Europa League spot and secure European football for next season.
