Wilfried Bony Confident In The Face Of Quiet Manchester City Transition

Cote D’Ivoire striker Wilfried Bony seems to be maintaining his positive outlook despite a less than ideal start to his Manchester City career, following his move to the Citizens from Swansea City.

The Ivorian played an important part in the Elephants taking the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Equatorial Guinea last month, and during the tournament it was announced that Bony would be making the switch to join his national team-mate Yaya Toure at the Manchester club.

After four appearances for the English Premier League champions, he is yet to score a goal, and in typical fashion the local media is beginning to question his ability to deal with the pressure at the club and whether the move was a good idea for Manuel Pellegrini and his side.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Bony has hit back by saying that he has only just begun his new adventure at the club, and he is developing the connections with his Manchester City colleagues that will bear fruit in the near future.

“I can handle the pressure. This is a great move for me but I need to work hard, take my chances when they come along and it will get easier as I get to know my team-mates better and get a better understanding,” he said.

“I’ve only been here for two weeks so I’m just settling in, getting to know everyone better and they are getting to know me and what my strengths are, too.”

Manchester City’s next match will be on Saturday March 14 against Burnley in Premier League action, before a crunch UEFA Champions League game against Barcelona on March 18. Bony will be looking to get some game time in the coming fixtures, allowing him the chance to get on the score sheet.
