Communications and collaborations enabler for companies, customers and team management, Avaya, has announced plans to extensively expand its presence in Africa.

The company has partnered with the Kenyan government and the private sector to roll out SmartEngage technology in the East African nation. According to a statement kiosk-like terminals will be deployed to enable companies and governments to remotely dispatch services such as renewal of licences.

“SmartEngage solutions is a product that we are taking worldwide,” said Hatim Hariri, managing director for North, West, East and Central Africa.

Hariri likened the solution to an ATM machine, fitted with video conferencing capabilities.
When renewing a driving licence, for example, an applicant can simply engage customer care virtually, apply for the licence, pay the required fee and immediately receive a printout.
