Gabon Overhauling Its Digital Infrastruture

Gabon, considered one of the more prosperous countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, is overhauling its third- and fourth-generation telecommunications networks with a $125 million investment by Bharti Airtel.  

Manoj Kohli, CEO of international operations for Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel, said the company is committed to Gabon and ready to work with the government towards achieving its technology goals which include deploying a 3G and 4G network to help businesses and youth access world class data services, according to FirstPost Business.

Gabon hopes to have a countrywide digital infrastructure by 2016. The country has a per capita income of almost $12,000, the report says.
