Largest Nanotechnology Center To Launch In Egypt

Thanks to a donation by Egypt’s government, two hundred acres of land will host the country’s largest nanotechnology research center, CCTV Africa reported. Instead of dishing out funds to a university, the country sought out to build its own facility, where research will cater to Egypt’s environmental hurdles. More than a facility for Egypt, officials hope to make it a global and prime destination for research.

“The partnership between scientific research and the challenges we face is the foundation for our future. The challenges we have — like renewable energy, water desalination, purification or management of sewers — all these files are being studied by the minister of scientific research,” Egypt Prime Minister, Ibrahim Mahlab, told CCTV Africa.

The center is scheduled to begin operation at the end of 2015.
