China To Better Regulate, Monitor Foreign Aid

“The world is changing rapidly, new circumstances arise when it comes to China’s foreign aid efforts,” Zhang Xiangchen, Ministry of Commerce assistant minister told CCTV Africa. “As president Xi Jinping has stressed recently, we should try to uphold justice and pursue shared interest — and do a good job in providing foreign aid.”

According to CCTV Africa, China held a conference to discuss how to better protect itself from the effects of bribery and fraud related to foreign aid provided by the nation. Since the spread of Ebola began in West Africa, China has donated a total of $19 million dollars through the UN Development Programme, the report noted. China also seeks to boost the number of military and medical workers involved in foreign aid missions.
