Steep unemployment rates in Kenya have encouraged many to take matters into their own hands. CCTV Africa reported that the most promising ventures of all are mobile — and ones that can be carried out within the country’s busy markets. On man attested to earning a decent living by providing pedicure services for workers and women who visit the market — an offering some customers had to warm up to.
“This work has helped me in a lot of ways. For instance: I have built a house, I have bought a motor bike, it helps me get my daily bread, it helps me pay my rent, [and] I dress nicely,” Dancun Ochieng, a market beautician told CCTV Africa. I don’t have a lot of challenges, I’m okay.”
