Celebrated South African Runner Mbulaeni Mulaudzi Killed In Car Accident

Former 800m world champion Mbulaeni Mulaudzi has been killed in a car accident in his native South Africa.

Mulaudzi took 800m gold at the 2009 world championships in Berlin and won silver at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

The 34-year-old, who carried his country’s flag at the opening ceremony in Athens, retired in 2013.

“Mulaudzi was surely one of the most decorated track athletes that South Africa has ever seen,” his agent Peet van Zyl said.
