Turkey Eyes Zambia Cotton, Textile Partnership

Noting that Zambia produces a significant amount of cotton but lacks the necessary facilities to produce textile products, Zambia’s ambassador to Turkey, Miriam Mulenga, has emphasized that investing in Zambian cotton could benefit the Turkish textile sector.

She was speaking at a meeting with Aegean Exporters’ Union (EİB) Chairman Sabri Ünlütürk in İzmir on Tuesday.

Zambia, a southern African country of 15 million, produces between 50-55,000 tons of cotton per year, according to Mulenga. She claimed that the country has valuable resources underground waiting to be unearthed, but that it lacks the proper machinery and qualified personnel.
