Economy-Driven SADC Summit Wraps in Zimbabwe

The 34th annual SADC (Southern Africa Development Community) Summit came to an end August 18 following Council of Ministers meetings, which took place days prior. According to CCTV Africa, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is the new SADC chairperson and headed the summit which aimed to strategize progress tactics for economic transformation in the region.

“We also appeal to South Africa, which is highly industrialized, to lead us in this. And to work with us and to cooperate with us. Not just to regard the rest of our countries as open markets for products from South Africa,” Mugabe said.
