Africa’s online video-on-demand market is heating up with the launch of a second Hollywood mobile streaming service on the continent just this month.

Aflix.tv is available for download from the Google Play store. The mobile streaming app has been launched in Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana and it has a library of top Hollywood content. Movies and even popular television shows can be downloaded via Android powered mobile devices, according to the New York and Lagos based company.

But the launch of Aflix comes as popular Nollywood streaming website iROKOtv announced last week that it is branching out to include Hollywood, Bollywood, Korean and Telenovela television series and movies as part of its offering.

For $2.50 per month, English speaking African users are planned to have unlimited access to iROKOtv’s over 10,000 hours of content.
Aflix’s offering; though, for premium movie rentals costs $2.99. Meanwhile, users interested in downloading Aflix and accessing the full service receive a 14-day free trial, after which they will have the option to subscribe for $9.99 a month.
