Namibia’s Housing Prices Rise Beyond Most Citizens’ Reach

Namibia, a southern Africa country whose capital Windhoek is ranked among top cleanest cities in the world, has witnessed a jump in housing prices and most of its citizens are finding it difficult to afford them, CCTV Africa reported.

The demand for houses in the middle level market has risen significantly in the resent years, while supply has remained stagnant, pushing residential properties beyond reach of many locals and even foreigners moving into the country.

Through its Vision 2030 development program the Namibia’s government plans to build over 10,000 low income houses annually to fill this housing deficit.

“The government’s vision is clear, especially through the ministry of local government that they want each and every person to have a sheltered,” Muese Kazapua, deputy mayor of the capital Windhoek, told CCTV Africa
