UK Company Finds Opportunity In Selling Used Tractors To Africa

Farming in most part of Africa is a labor intensive process that employ little, if any, technological tools like tractors. A UK company is however working to help sort out this teething problem by reconditioning old tractors and shipping them to African farmers for a fraction of the cost, CCTV Africa reports.

Agriculture accounts for about 60 percent of Africa’s active labor force, contributes 17 per cent of the continent’s total gross domestic product and accounts for 40 per cent of its foreign currency earnings.

Given that the continent possesses 733 million hectares of arable land, mechanization tools such as using tractors on the farms is one of the most effective strategies for boosting economic growth.
