Africa CEO Forum Circles Back to IT Revolution

Last month, the Africa CEO Forum took place in Geneva Switzerland. Besides business strategy being the topic of conversation, IT — it’s advancement and potential — was placed front and center. A video report by CCTV Africa details what CEOs believe is on the horizon for Africa and technology.

“ICT in Africa, I think, has a greater potential than most parts of the world, because Africa has more challenges than many parts of the world. If you take medicine for example, the to doctor patient ratio in Kenya is about 1:17,000. That’s against the World Health Organization recommendation. If you look at mobile phone penetration, it’s almost 1:1,” Bob Collymore,  Safaricom CEO told CCTV Africa.

“The biggest thing to have happened in Africa has been this IT revolution, especially in telecommunications,” Donald Kaberuka, president of the African Development Bank said. “This means that we have been able to leap frog some stages technological innovation.”
