Share Integrated communication services provider, Safaricom, has so far pre-sold over 300 Samsung Galaxy S5 units ahead of the first ever global launch to be held in the country. Kenya has in the recent past been named as a leading market for smartphones in Sub-Saharan Africa, with over 100, 000 smartphones sales in the Kenyan market each month. This growth is attributed to a growing middle class that has increased the uptake of these types of phones. Over 400,000 high – end Samsung devices were sold in 2013, representing 23 per cent of the smartphone devices sold through the Safaricom retail outlets in Kenya during the period.
